Equipment at a substation north of Elko was damaged, as was a 60,000-volt transmission line that serves Winnemucca and Dutch Flats, the company said on Thursday.
Chris McAviney, the utility's district manager, said the damage could have caused a pole fire or disrupted service to customers. In addition, McAviney said any time a power line is down or is sagging, there is a potential for serious harm to employees or passersby.
