Stars are washed out again

VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- For the fourth time in less than a month, the Las Vegas Stars were forced to postpone a game due to inclement weather.

Monday night's Pacific Coast League game at Vancouver was postponed due to rain and will be made up this evening as part of a doubleheader beginning at 6:05.

The Stars (4-11) are expected to start right-hander Scott Lewis and left-hander Glenn Dishman tonight.

Also on Monday, Stars radio announcer Jon Sandler said he had preliminary clearance from a doctor to resume his "normal activities" and indicated he could return to the broadcast booth as soon as Friday, when the team returns to Cashman Field for an eight-game homestand.

Sandler suffered a fractured orbital bone in his right cheek when he was hit by a thrown ball prior to a game Saturday in Tacoma. Sandler also sustained an injury to his right eye, but the extent of that injury won't be known until he is examined by an eye specialist later this week.

Sandler said if the vision in his right eye has improved by Friday, he may return to Cashman Field on Friday night. He said he has blurred vision in the injured eye, but otherwise felt "surprisingly well, considering."
