The free concert will include "The British Eighth March," originally composed for Gen. Bernard Montgomery; the ballet suite from "Coppelia" by Leo Delibes; Strauss' "Auf der Jagd"; and a medley of popular Broadway hits by American composer Irving Berlin.
This joint concert will begin with the UNLV Symphonic Band performing works for the modern wind band. Among the program selections will be the "Ouverture fur Harmoniemusik" by Mendelssohn, a transcription of the Scott Joplin rag "The Strenuous Life," and "A Movement for Rosa" written by composer Mark Camphouse to honor civil rights heroine Rosa Parks.
