Man admits to prostituting minor in LV

A Minnesota man pleaded guilty today to a charge of prostituting a minor in Las Vegas.

Michael Allen Taylor, 30, pleaded guilty to one count of pandering, a felony, before Justice of the Peace Debbie Lippis.

The charge could bring a one- to six-year prison term, said John Lukens, who heads the district attorney's women and children abuse unit.

Taylor also agreed to make a $3,000 contribution to the district attorney's Witness Assistance Program, which, among other things, helps get prostitutes into rehabilitation programs.

Lukens said there was no sign that Taylor, who was arrested in February, had mistreated the 17-year-old he lured away from Minnesota to work as a prostitute in Las Vegas. He had arranged a false ID to help her obtain a job as a topless dancer at the Can-Can Room.

"Had he hit her, used drugs with her, he'd be going straight to prison" without the chance of a plea bargain, Lukens said.
