Pahrump fatal accident victim identified

A man killed in a two-car collision on State Route 160 west of the Mountain Springs summit has been identified as Paul Raymond Edwards, 44, of Pahrump.

Edwards was heading east along the two-lane highway in his 1987 Chevy sedan when he was hit at 5:44 p.m. Monday by a westbound 1989 Ford van, driven by Christopher Lee, 20, also of Pahrump, who had crossed into the eastbound traffic lane to pass slower cars.

Edwards, who was not wearing his seat belt, died at the crash site 24 miles west of Interstate 15. Lee was wearing a seat belt and suffered minor injuries.

Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Steve Harney said authorities intend to charge Lee with unsafe passing with death involved.
