He is survived by his wife, Margaret Elaine; two sons, George Gaines Abernathy Jr. of Miami, and Berry Chapman Abernathy of Las Vegas; one daughter, Lysandra Elaine Lee of Las Vegas; three sisters, Clara Stava and Sally Keyes, both of Chicago, and Genevive Jaycox of Dover, N.H.; and three grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 7 p.m. Wednesday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave.
