Immigration Attorney Pleads Guilty in Immigration Fraud Case

Elliott Dubois, an attorney for more than 30 years, was indicted by a federal grand jury on Aug. 15. He was charged with submitting false documents to Las Vegas immigration officials on behalf of immigrants who were applying for amnesty.

The guilty plea comes at the end of a five-year investigation by several federal agencies of thousands of false amnesty applications filed by immigrants in Las Vegas and other cities. About 30 people, including three attorneys, have been convicted.

Dubois is scheduled for sentencing on July 16 before U.S. District Court Judge Philip Pro. Dubois faces up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. He also could be disbarred.
