SHE NAMED THAT PARK! -- Alyse Makemson, a fifth-grade student at Bendorf Elementary School, won the Clark County Parks and Recreation's "Name the Park" contest for the 270-acre property at Flamingo and Durango. Alyse submitted her idea for the name of the new park, Desert Breeze, with an essay on why she picked the name. The new park will open mid-year. For her efforts, Alyse won a $50 gift certificate to Mountasia, a party for her classmates and a plaque. She will also read her winning essay at the park's grand opening.

'TEEN MODEL -- Cristi Rogers of Las Vegas was selected as a monthly semifinalist in 'Teen Magazine & Maybelline's 1996 Great Model Search contest. She is one of 80 monthly semifinalists. Cristi now has a chance at becoming one of the top 48 super semifinalists, whose pictures will appear in the July issue of 'Teen. She was chosen from more than 20,000 entries. The overall winner will appear on the cover of the October issue of 'Teen.

MILITARY SCHOOL -- The Marine Military Academy Preparatory School of Harlingen, Texas, will hold a presentation for interested youngsters and their families at 8 p.m. April 10 at the Flamingo Hilton. Its admissions personal will be on hand. The institution, which has 560 cadets in grades eight through 12, promotes itself as "the only military school in the world patterned after the time-honored traditions of the U.S. Marine Corps.
