Guy Shipler was an example for all judges in Nevada

He was a positive person who first and foremost would ask the hardest of all questions; show me the evidence that a judge should be disciplined. He was every judge's advocate. He served the commission from its inception.

When a prominent Nevada judge criticized him, he could have easily folded his tent and thrown in the towel.

That was not part of Guy's nature. He always battled for the truth. All judges should have the character, integrity and humility of the late Guy Shipler. There would be no need for a discipline commission if judges possessed the qualities that Guy exhibited throughout his life. If one was to write Guy Shipler's epitaph it would be: Tell the truth and don't be afraid.

I will miss a good friend and colleague.
