Police who were called to an area near the downtown district found a Hispanic man lying in the street.
Police said the victim suffered several gunshot wounds to the torso.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Neighbors reported hearing people argue, followed by several gunshots.
Police say the shooting may have been gang related.
The victim, who appeared to be in his early 20s, was not immediately identified.
