Barnes & Noble Inc., the nation's largest bookseller, operates 358 superstores under the Barnes & Noble, Bookstop and Bookstar tradenames, and 670 mall stores under the B. Dalton Bookseller, Doubleday Book Shops and Scribner's Bookstore trade names.

* SUPERSTORES: Located in 45 states; 10,000 to 60,00 square feet with an average of 150,000 titles geared to the interests of individual communities.

* MALL BOOKSTORES: Located in 46 states, Washington D.C, and Puerto Rico; 2,800 to 5,000 square feet with 15,000 to 25,000 titles.

* PROPRIETARY PUBLISHING: Owns publishing and distribution rights to more than 1,000 book titles. Barnes & Noble proprietary publishing accounts for 3 percent of the total company revenues.

* REVENUES: Company revenues for the third quarter ended Oct. 28, 1995, rose 20.4 percent to $432.3 million, up from $359 million one year ago. Superstore revenues grew 38.6 percent to $302.5 million, up from $218.3 million.
