Youth Forum Still Set Despite Damage to SUN

"The show must go on."

That was the word of SUN Youth Forum coordinators Harvey Dondero and Ruthe Deskin after damage from the SUN fire was surveyed.

LOST ALL

"We lost everything we had prepared for the forum, including signs, moderators' supplies, recorders' supplies, badges for 500 students, and anything else which required advanced preparation," Mrs. Deskin noted.

The Youth Forum starts today at the Convention Center when students of Clark County's seven high schools will gather for all-day discussions on subjects ranging from world affairs to local teen-age problems.

The students will be divided into 14 panels, each under the direction of an adult moderator. At the end of the sessions, a concert will be given in the Gold Room with Lewis Elias conducting an orchestra composed of musicians from Strip hotel bands.

GUESTS AT LUNCH

Students will be guests of the SUN at lunch in the Gold Room.

Friday night the annual affair will be climaxed by a gigantic, all-star show featuring Lionel Hampton and his band, Freddie Bell, the Bell Boys, and Roberta Linn, and Sammy Davis, Jr. Fourteen students will also appear to present conclusions of the students. The affair, scheduled for 7:30 at the Las Vegas High School Auditorium, is open to the public.
