Sammy Cohen, veteran Las Vegas sportsman, is the bossman of the new Horseshoe race book, which opens amid a gala celebration on Second and Fremont Streets.
Cohen is well known in the local turf fraternity, having operated books here for the past several years.
Sammy plans several novelties in horse-betting in his new locale. Last fall he gained considerable support for his quenella betting--whereby a wager would pick the one-two horses in any race.
Cohen operated a string of horses prior to coming to Las Vegas.
