Patch Adams lecture
Touro University Nevada will host a series of events with famed physician and humorist Patch Adams. Dr. Adams will begin the day on the TUN campus in Henderson with a private lecture to students, faculty and staff as part of the monthly campus seminar series. In the afternoon, alongside TUN students and faculty, he will travel to Summerlin Hospital for a private clowning session visiting room to room with the young patients in the Children’s Medical Center. Circus Circus Hotel & Casino will then host a 7 p.m. community lecture that is open to the public. Following the lecture will be a private VIP reception for select invited guests to meet and greet with the famed physician.
After being devoted to changing the healthcare system for many years, Dr. Adams garnered international recognition for his humorous approach to health care when the 1998 movie Patch Adams, starring Robin Williams was released. As a medical doctor and clown he has built his career for more than 30 years around the philosophy that health is based on happiness believing that humor is vital in healing and healthcare must incorporate those aspects.
**Limited seating is available to the general public for the 7 p.m. event at Circus Circus. For more information or to be added to the RSVP list for the lecture, please contact the TUN Office of Advancement at 702-777-3100, no later than 5 p.m. on Wednesday, February 29.
