Downtown Residential Civic Alliance

Downtown Henderson residents are invited to attend the next meeting of the new Downtown Residential Civic Alliance. It will be at 6 p.m., Tuesday, June 19 in the conference room in the City of Henderson’s City Hall Annex, located at 280 Water Street.

The organization is being spearheaded by the city’s Redevelopment Agency to provide a forum and unified voice for downtown Henderson residents to share their input and concerns regarding initiatives and issues that affect their neighborhood. Two planning meetings have been held, and area residents are encouraged to attend and get involved.

According to Tiffany Reardon, Redevelopment Agency communications specialist, there will be several subgroups under the umbrella of the Downtown Residential Civic Alliance, representing the Atlantic Townsite District, Basic Townsite District, Gateway District, St. Rose District and Water Street District. “Each neighborhood is unique with its own characteristics and issues,” she said. “We’ve created a way for residents to get involved and speak in a more unified voice before the City Council and other appointed and regulatory groups, and with each other. This will help them become more engaged in the community and with their neighbors to achieve common goals – the more people who participate, the greater the impact.”

Some issues the group discussed addressing include: maintaining a pedestrian-friendly community, encouraging getting to know neighbors, community clean-ups, health and safety, community pride and fostering a sense of community, speaking in a unified voice to elected and appointed officials, and maintaining the area’s historical elements.

To RSVP or for information, contact Tiffany Reardon at the Redevelopment Agency at (702) 267-1526 or tiffany.reardon@cityofhenderson.com.
