Nevada Afterschool Network & Nevada Parent Information and Resource Center offer Free Seminar
Nevada Afterschool Network (NAN) together with Nevada Parent Information and Resource Center (NVPIRC) invites administrators of schools and after-school programs to a free seminar to learn about an important free training and outreach program that will be offered to their staff members this fall. The seminar, set for Thursday, August 18th from 9:30 to 11:30 am via video conference at the Department of Education Building in Las Vegas (9890 South Maryland Parkway, Suite 221), will provide administrators a sneak peak of what their staff can learn about the essential need for college education for Nevada children and how they can engage families to help make college a reality for their youth.
Topics to be addressed:
-Best practices for engaging families about the importance of college
education and how they can make it an attainable goal for their kids
-Why College addresses the need for a college education and how
parents can support their child in pursuing that goal
-How to Pay for College" helps parents explore the various options to
help pay for college including learning about scholarships, grants, loans,
savings plans, work study, etc.
-School Tours - opportunity for families to tour a local college/university
campus and learn more about college life and requirements
