Hear classic mariachi tunes plus new spins on songs like "The Devil Went Down to Georgia"

The World Vibration Concert Series will highlight local band Mariachi Nuevo de Las Vegas at a concert at the Winchester Cultural Center Theater. Mariachi Nuevo is derived from the mariachi music program created in 2002 by the Clark County School District music instructors who wanted to bring traditional Mexican music to their students. The nine-piece group includes eight teachers as well as Javier Vasquez, a recent graduate of Rancho High School who learned mariachi in the program and now plays alongside his former instructors. Vasquez plays the guitarron, a large guitar that serves as the bass for the group.
