A product of a grieving nation post 9/11, My Chemical Romance was started by band members, Gerard Way and Matt Pelissier. Way wrote "Skylines and Turnstiles" to express his feelings about the tragedies caused by the plane crashes, but the songwriting did not stop there and pretty soon, Way and Pelissier were looking for willing hands to fill empty instruments.
Often referred to as My Chem or MCR, the band was one of the first to offer free downloads of their songs on sites such as MySpace where they had garnered a huge fan base. MCR's sound has often been described by critics as "emo" to which the band vehemently responds they have never been anything but "rock" or at their best, "violent, dangerous pop."
My Chemical Romance and all of their controversial glory will be performing at The Joint inside the Hard Rock Sunday March 30, and Monday, March 31 at 7 p.m.
