Cross Canadian Ragweed

Upon hearing the southern-rock guitar licks and pop-country vocals of Cross Canadian Ragweed, you wouldn’t figure the band hailed from the maple leaf country to the north—and you’d be right. The Yukon, Oklahoma band actually derives its name from bits of its members names including lead singer Cody Canada. Canada, who also writes the group’s songs, has often been called a rebel, and frequently sings lyrics with a dark and defiant tone.

Since its first album release ten years ago, Ragweed has definitely come into its own, showing a strong following outside of its original Oklahoma and Texas audience by headlining shows from Pittsburgh to Seattle. In fact, in a recent review, Billboard magazine said “they may be the last great Southern rock band still stomping the boards.”

The band's upcoming show at the House of Blues will feature songs from their 2007 album, "Mission California," which made it to No. 30 on Billboard 200 and No. 6 on the Top Country Albums chart.
