Astronomy Week in Death Valley
Get away from the bright lights of the city and check out the bright lights of the sky.
Since winter provides longer nights and clear skies, Death Valley National Park will hold Astronomy week from Jan. 28 through Feb.2.
A variety of programs will be presented by park rangers, guest speakers and amateur astronomers. Discussions under the stars will be held at the Mesquite Springs Campground. Telescopes will allow people to compare Death Valley's landscape to the surface of Mars and safely observe sunspots.
Astronomy Week will finish off with a star party at the Furnace Creek Airport on Saturday, Feb. 2.
The vehicle entrance fee to Death Valley National Park is $20 for seven days.
For a person traveling on foot, motorcycle or bicycle, the individual entrance fee is $10 for seven days and allows the person to leave and enter the park as many times as they wish during that week. If more than one person is on a motorcycle or bicycle, each person must pay the fee.
