Guitars for Autism Charity Drive

Published on Thu, Jun 7, 2012 (12:02 p.m.)

Cowtown Guitars is proud to team up with the Autism Community Trust and the 18b Las Vegas Arts District Neighborhood Association in a valley wide drive to collect 100 guitars to be incorporated in 100 pieces of “guitar art.” The finished pieces will be auctioned off in a charity event to benefit the children, adults, and families affected by Autism Syndrome Disorder.

Thursday, June 7, 2012 -- The goal is to collect 100 guitars for 100 area artists to incorporate into 100 pieces of art. All area artists are encouraged to participate.

Starting Friday June 1, 2012 Cowtown Guitars will gladly accept your gently used electric and acoustic guitars and provide you with a fair market valuation and receipt for your donation that is tax deductible. Autism Community Trust is a 501(c)3 foundation that intends on distributing these guitars to area artists and ultimately displaying these pieces of “guitar art” in a citywide art gallery and charity auction in December of 2012.

ACT Arts District Festival will be held November 4, 2012 in the Arts District. This is a daytime celebration of our art community. Artists of all kinds are encouraged to participate and display their art. Families are encouraged to attend and see what our community has to offer. Artists will be working with children to create additional pieces of guitar art.

Starting December 1, 2012 each guitar will be displayed in one of 100 local restaurants involved in the Guitars for Autism event, thus creating a citywide art gallery.

On December 28, 2012 Celebrate Las Vegas will host an Art Auction and Concert – 100 pieces of Guitar Art will be assembled under one roof for a rapid-fire art auction and reception. This reception will be followed by an exciting concert featuring bands to be announced.
