VEA Encourages Community to Support Fill the Bucket Truck School Supply Drive on Aug. 2

PAHRUMP, Nev. (July 15, 2014) – In an effort to support schools in southwestern Nevada, Valley Electric Association, Inc. (VEA), a member-owned electric cooperative headquartered in Pahrump, will host its annual Fill the Bucket Truck School Supply Drive on Aug. 2 at multiple locations in Pahrump. VEA encourages community members to participate by donating during the charitable event, which will provide a variety of essential supplies to 11 schools within VEA’s service area.

VEA will accept donations of school supplies and cash at multiple locations from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Aug. 2. VEA employees and Ambassadors will be stationed at select locations to collect donations.

To reward those who contribute to the drive, each donor will receive a ticket for a chance to win one of 10 power bill credits ranging from $25 to $100.

Donations will be accepted at the following drop-off locations from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Aug. 2:

• Smith’s Food & Drug
601 S. Nevada Highway 160, Pahrump, NV 89048

• Albertsons
200 S. Nevada Highway 160, Pahrump, NV 89048

• Wal-Mart Supercenter
300 S. Nevada Highway 160, Pahrump, NV 89048

• Pahrump Valley Auto Plaza (school supply donations only)
2060 E. Charleston Park Ave., Pahrump, NV 89048

• Threadz Clothing Company (school supply donations only)
1231 S. Loop Road, Pahrump, NV 89048

Cash donations will not be accepted at the Pahrump Valley Auto Plaza or Threadz Clothing Company. Lists of requested supplies will be available at each drop-off location.

In addition, VEA will also accept donations at its Pahrump office, located at 800 E. Nevada Highway 372, from today through Aug. 1.

In 2013, the Fill the Bucket Truck School Supply Drive set a record for the annual event by collecting 22 buckets, or 319 cubic feet, of school supplies. Since its inception, the program has collected 1,667.5 cubic feet of supplies for local schools.

“Our team is always impressed by the continued generosity of our neighbors in southwestern Nevada,” said Dax Whittle, member and communications coordinator for VEA. “VEA’s annual Fill the Bucket Truck School Supply Drive plays a valuable role in helping local schools, and we look forward to another successful event this year.”
