Race to the Zumba World Record in Las Vegas

Published on Mon, Jan 27, 2014 (11:51 a.m.)

There comes a time when a cause exists that brings together a force so strong it can be heard around the world. And on February 8th, 2014 Zumba® Fitness Instructors (ZINS) Dr. Teddy Sim and Jaqueline Andrea along with many other ZINS, will be leading this triumphant movement. In the course of the gathering to celebrate the Chinese New Year, Las Vegas licensed Zumba® Fitness instructors from across the city, are coming together in an attempt to break one of the largest records in Guinness World Record History, the record for the largest Zumba® class in the world.

On September 15, 2012 a challenge was set when the country of India held the largest Zumba® class featuring a total of 6,671 participants. And thus the challenge was set to find a new victory for this honor and as such, the city of Las Vegas, Nevada answered the call.

On February 8th, 2014 Las Vegas will attempt to break the record by bringing together 7,000 people who will dance and get fit for one of the most noble causes: educating the nation’s next generation, our children.

As the world looks at the United States, what many will find is that education, although an opportunity had by all, is not always equal and Nevada is no stranger to this quarrel. Lack of funding and social complications affords many children the opportunity to attend schools that are often without proper resources. For many of these children, those resources are in the form of books.
When causes such as these exists, the Zumba® community finds ways to step into action, and on February 8th, not only will these amazing instructors attempt to break the world record but will also shed light on the status of education in Nevada. So the question, which remains, is how can you help?

The answer is simple: register to participate. The open, public event brings together mothers, fathers, friends, neighbors, children all you have a stake in educating our nation’s youth. To help, all you have to do is register for this free event and bring a k-12 book, which will be donated to “Spread the Word Nevada” and the Clark County School District.
