A Las Vegas Comic Book Shop is Giving Away Avengers (1963) #1 for Free Comic Book Day

Cosmic Comics! in Las Vegas, NV is celebrating the release of Marvel’s “The Avengers” & this year’s Free Comic Book Day by giving away an original 1963 “Avengers” #1

Free Comic Book Day takes place annually on the first Saturday in May and was established in 2002 with the goal of bringing new readers into comic book stores and introducing them to the joys of reading comics. This year Free Comic Book Day is on Saturday, May 5th and over 3 million comic books will be given away by thousands of comic book shops around the world in celebration of the comic book art form. These participating stores will be introducing as many people as possible to the wonders of comics, but only one comic book shop is giving away Marvel Comics’ Avengers (1963) #1 by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, and Dick Ayers: Cosmic Comics! in Las Vegas.

Cosmic Comics is holding a daylong celebration for Free Comic Book Day from 10 AM to 8 PM at their store located in the North-East shopping center at Flamingo & Sandhill next to the Las Vegas Athletic Club just minutes from the Las Vegas Strip. At 4,000 square feet, Cosmic Comics! is the largest comic book specialty store in Nevada with over 10,000 graphic novels and over 50,000 back issues from the 1940’s to the present, including Avengers #1. Last November a copy of Avengers #1 sold for a quarter million dollars, but this Free Comic Book Day one lucky winner will get to own an original copy of Avengers #1 from September 1963 for FREE!

Anyone in costume will receive a raffle ticket for the Avengers #1 raffle and for the hourly Avengers themed prize pack raffles that have a combined total value of well over $1,000! Cosmic Comics! is also giving away Marvel’s The Avengers movie themed prizes to celebrate the movie’s debut the day before Free Comic Book Day. Cosmic Comics! will have free donuts and pizza throughout the day, a photographer from noon to 7 PM with a Cosmic Comics! photo booth, and a massive store-wide sale.
