13-Year-Old Rock 'N' Roll Fantasy Camp Alumni Wows Crowd at Hard Rock Performance

Published on Wed, Apr 17, 2013 (1:42 p.m.)

Maybe it is truly in the water. Michael Mann, father of Chicago teen rock band REBELMANN®, was born in Vegas. That was 1963. Fast forward to 2013 and Mann’s sons are truly almost famous. Their website, http://REBELMANN.com (http://REBELMANN.com), lists them as “the rock band of brothers.” At 13-years-old, Clayton Mann is not even a bonafide rock star - yet. But when your resume already lists the famed Whisky-A-Go-Go, Music Row Nashville, and the MGM Grand Las Vegas as your stomping grounds, with Bruce Kulick http://kulick.net , of KISS fame and Grand Funk Railroad on speed dial as your
personal mentor, REBELMANN® is surely destined for the big time.

The young band of 3 brothers recently attended Las Vegas’ own Rock ’N Roll Fantasy Camp at the MGM Grand back in October. Spearheaded by David Fishof, the RRFC CEO placed the young band with none other than guitar great, Bruce Kulick, as their counselor. While at Fantasy Camp, REBELMANN® impressed the A-list guitar legend enough to become their personal rock ’n roll mentor and wowed none other than the God of Rock himself, Gene Simmons, who was on hand at the October Camp for it’s Las Vegas debut.

Now Clayton and his twin brothers, Johnathon and Bryce, can add the Hard Rock Café to their already impressive resume. Saturday night, the band took 2nd place at the King Ryan Events-Warner Brothers IShowcase Music Battle of the Bands in their hometown of Chicago. The 3 brothers, along with their studio bassist, Tim Joyce, debuted three of their originals: Up All Night, Come On Everybody, and Kick In The Door. Clayton’s powerful vocals along with Johnathon’s blistering lefty guitar solos, and Bryce’s pounding drum tempos (all while flipping his drum sticks like Tommy Lee) left the crowd screaming for an encore! And doesn’t every 13-year-old rock star get an encore at 3:30 in the morning? Or maybe that’s just the blood of Vegas pulsating in the kid.

Still tied for 1st place in that final round, the judge literally flipped a coin on stage and called “heads or tails” for the win. REBELMANN® lost the coin toss. But the placement really didn’t matter to the young band; just to take the stage at the Hard Rock and battle against older, more experienced bands was enough of a win for the Chicago teens.

Be sure to check out their website for future performances and streaming of their original music. Looks like Clayton and his twin brothers just might hit “the Garden,” as suggested in their debut original song, “Up All Night/The American Way!” At this rate, they might even get there before before they’re even legal, or possibly even drive. At the very least, dad Michael laid down his Vegas roots big time in REBELMANN®. Looks Like REBELMANNIA® is on the horizon. Doc Alexander - ACS
