Las Vegas, NV – On February 10, 2013, the Twinkle Toez Foundation will be hosting its second annual Miss Twinkle Toez Pageant at the Family Music Center (8125 W. Sahara Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89117) at 4:00 pm. The pageant is open to girls at least 6 years of age with physical or mental disabilities who live in Clark County.
The Twinkle Toez Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides scholarships to at-risk children, as well as children with physical and mental disabilities, to participate in the arts…whether it is dance, vocal, musical instruments, art, theater, etc. In an effort to develop a program in which all children have the opportunity to realize their dreams through the expression of the arts, regardless of cultural, social, or economic differences, the Twinkle Toez Foundation was established in November 2009 by Christina DeLessio.
The Miss Twinkle Toez pageant was inspired by a special needs student of Step Up Academy of the Arts in Henderson. DeLessio was a local titleholder in the Miss America Organization, and the young student asked how she could win a crown of her own. After a little research, it was discovered that girls with physical or mental disabilities in Nevada do not have such an opportunity. All contestants in the Miss Twinkle Toez Pageant will receive a crown and sash, as well as a goody bag from local sponsors. An overall winner will be crowned Miss Twinkle Toez 2013, and will receive an Arts Scholarship and a year of opportunities of public appearances.
All proceeds from the Miss Twinkle Toez Pageant will go to the Twinkle Toez Foundation to continue to provide scholarship assistance for students to participate in the arts. Tickets can be purchased in advance at Step Up Academy of the Arts (2558A Wigwam Parkway, Henderson, NV 89074) or the day of the event at the door. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for kids ages 3-12 (under 3 years of age is free).
