KNOWLEDGE UNIVERSE SURPRISES LAS VEGAS TEACHER WITH $10,000
AND EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATOR AWARD

Nicole Lowery, a pre-kindergarten teacher at Summerlin KinderCare Learning Center in Las Vegas, was honored with an Early Childhood Educator Award from Knowledge Universe® - United States, the nation’s leading provider of early childhood education and care. Nominated and selected for this award without her knowledge, Nicole was surprised on October 1 with the award and a $10,000 check in front of children, parents, and colleagues who value her teaching abilities.

During morning story time, KinderCare District Manager Wendy Johnstone asked Nicole to join her in reading a new book to the children. As the story unfolded, it soon became apparent to Nicole that the book was about her and the surprise award she was receiving. As the final page was turned and the winning name revealed, cheers and applause erupted from the children, parents and center staff who were gathered in the classroom. A very surprised Nicole was also cheered on by her daughter, a college student who recently joined the Summerlin KinderCare Learning Center as an assistant teacher in the school-age program.

Nicole received accolades for her teaching style that is positive and encouraging to the children, while challenging them to think critically and inspiring them to stay involved and participate in the classroom. She was praised for being a great asset to the center and was acknowledged for her assessment and continual enhancement of the center’s pre-kindergarten programs.

Nicole has been an educator at the nationally accredited Summerlin KinderCare Learning Center for more than six years, and is the 23rd teacher to receive the Knowledge Universe Early Childhood Educator Award since the program began in 2008.

Knowledge Universe honors the “best of the best” of its teachers through this annual award, which raises awareness for the early childhood education field nationwide, and the important contribution of these educators in the development of young children. Knowledge Universe® is the only early childhood education company to offer an award of such significance and one that seeks to raise awareness of the important impact made by these early childhood educators. The award program reflects the company’s commitment to shine the spotlight on the many outstanding teachers who dedicate themselves to children and families in thousands of communities across the country.
