Hillerby & Associates Joins Forces with Kaempfer Crowell

With Hillerby & Associates joining Kaempfer Crowell, Michael and Fred bring decades of experience to the firm’s legislative affairs practice.
As the director of legislative affairs, Michael Hillerby joins Robert Crowell, Mark Fiorentino and Jennifer Lazovich, the principal members of the firm’s legislative affairs practice. Michael served as chief of staff to former Nevada Gov. Kenny Guinn and has been lobbying in Nevada since 1991. During his time at the Governor’s Office, Michael’s responsibilities included advising the governor on a variety of policy and strategy issues, lobbying on behalf of the governor’s budget and agency policies, and serving as the primary liaison between the governor and the Nevada Legislature.
Michael’s experience and dedication extends beyond the realm of government and lobbying. He is a past-chairman and current trustee of the Nevada Museum of Art and a trustee and treasurer for the Western States Art Federation.

Fred Hillerby joins Kaempfer Crowell as a senior member of the firm’s legislative affairs practice. Fred brings 35 years of experience as a Nevada lobbyist to the firm. Prior to forming Hillerby & Associates in 1988, Fred served for 13 years as the president of the Nevada Hospital Association. During his time with the association, Fred oversaw its programs and worked as the lobbyist for Nevada’s nonprofit and investor-owned hospital industry. With an extensive background in health care and insurance, Fred has earned his stellar reputation as a leading expert in these industries.
Fred is a board member and owner of INDEX Managers Inc., the management company for IND, a professional liability insurance company. He also serves on the Nevada Insurance Commissioner’s Advisory Committee on Health Care and Insurance, in addition to the Commissioner’s Property and Casualty Insurance Advisory Committee.
