Truth Tour on Medicare and Social Security Comes to Las Vegas
“Bowzer” Leads Voter Education Effort
The Truth Tour is rolling into Las Vegas this week, debunking political campaign myths about candidates’ plans for Social Security and Medicare. Sponsored by the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare, the Truth Tour is coming to key battleground states like Nevada, where voters have an important stake in the national debate over the future of Medicare and Social Security. Former Entertainer Jon Bauman, best known as Bowzer from the Rock Revival band Sha-Na-Na, is a spokesman for the Truth Tour. He’ll headline a press conference detailing the Truth Tour’s arrival in the Las Vegas area.
Who: Jon “Bowzer” Bauman, Truth Tour Spokesman/ Gil Eisner, National Volunteer Coordinator
What: Press Conference
Where: 5100 Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, Nevada 89119
When: 11am Thursday September 27, 2012
The national Truth Tour campaign’s mobile billboard has already been making the rounds on the streets of Las Vegas, designed to call attention to the Romney/Ryan plan to turn Medicare into “CouponCare.” The mobile billboard is just one part of a national, six figure campaign which includes paid radio and internet advertising, social media outreach, door to door canvassing, tele-town halls and expanded grass roots field operations.
“This election will likely define the future of the nation’s social insurance safety net. The differences between most candidates in races from the White House to Congress on the future of Medicare, Social Security, and Medicaid are stark. However, those policy differences are often hidden behind poll-tested language in which “save” means slash and “protect” means privatize. It’s no wonder so many Americans, especially seniors, aren’t sure what to believe. This national Truth Tour is designed to provide all voters with the facts. There are differing plans for the future of these programs -- which serve virtually every American family. Explaining how these plans could impact the middle-class is key to our voter education strategy.”…Max Richtman, NCPSSM President/CEO
