The Pittsburgh Penguins boosted their roster this week with several call-ups from the American Hockey League to aid in their final push for the Stanley Cup.
The Penguins called up five players from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton including former Las Vegas Wranglers goalie John Curry.
After his tenure at Boston University, Curry joined the Wranglers for six games in the 2007-08 season. He went 4-1 with a 2.81 goals against average and a .905 save percentage during his stint in Las Vegas.
The 25-year-old Shorewood, Minn. native saw action in three NHL games with the Penguins this season. He spent the majority of the year in the AHL with the Baby Pens.
In 50 regular season AHL games this season, Curry went 33-15-1 with a 2.38 GAA and a .916 save percentage. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton fell to the Hershey Bears in the East Division finals of the Calder Cup playoffs earlier this month.
Pittsburgh currently has a 1-0 lead over the Carolina Hurricanes in the Eastern Conference finals. The Penguins will use Curry to back-up Marc-Andre Fleury and Mathieu Garon if needed.
