Expanded hockey coverage
Glenn Fisher's brick wall impression against Idaho last weekend earned him the Reebok ECHL Goaltender of the Week honors for March 9-15.
While posting back-to-back wins, Fisher also maintained a .50 goals against average and a .983 save percentage during the Idaho series at the Orleans Arena. The 25-year-old Edmonton native recorded his first shutout as a Wrangler by stopping 36 shots in Las Vegas' 3-0 victory over the Steelheads on Saturday.
The Edmonton Oilers drafted Fisher in the fifth round (No. 148 overall) in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft and he is still under contract with the Oilers. Before turning pro, Fisher went 39-22-6 with a .900 save percentage and 2.71 goals against average at the University of Denver. He helped lead the Pioneers to national titles in 2004 and 2005.
Since joining the Wranglers this season, Fisher is 7-5-1 with a 2.00 goals against average and a .939 save percentage.
Fisher will man the crease once again tonight as the Wranglers (29-26-8) face the Phoenix Roadrunners (26-31-4) at the Orleans Arena at 7:30 p.m.
