J.D. Watt is in the Wranglers’ dressing room this morning at the Orleans Arena and is expected to be in uniform Thursday night for the team’s home opener against Ontario.
Watt is a 6-foot-2, 196-pound right wing who can collect points as well as he polices the ice.
During his major junior days in the Western Hockey League, he often averaged 200 penalty minutes a season.
Selected in the fourth-round of the 2005 draft by Calgary, the NHL parent club of the ECHL Wranglers, the 21-year-old Watt had 28 penalty minutes in five games at Quad City this season in the American Hockey League.
The Flames reassigned the native of Cremona, Alberta, to Las Vegas.
Two seasons ago, for Vancouver of the WHL, Watt had 53 points in 70 games.
