Drilling and drubbing

Rudy Giuliani: Wrong Reform and Wrong Reason

(A team of Sun reporters is at the Republican National Convention this week in St. Paul.)

ST. PAUL, Minn. — Drilling good. Harry Reid bad.

That seems to be the consensus here inside the hall.

The enthusiasm gap that has defined St. Paul this week seems to be shrinking with every speaker to the podium.

Oil drilling has been a popular theme tonight, bringing the crowd to its feet with nearly every mention. Former New York mayor and one-time presidential contender Rudy Giuliani drew it out one more time with “Drill, baby, drill!” The crowd went wild.

Then he brought up Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s landmark April 2007 comment that the war in Iraq was lost.

Boos rumbled through the hall.
