Cathedral evokes humility

(A team of Sun reporters is at the Republican National Convention this week in St. Paul.)

Just walked up a hill to the Cathedral of St. Paul. A true architectural wonder, a Roman Catholic church of western European grandeur, with touches of central and Eastern Europe.

A structure that possesses the ineffable ability to evoke real humility, and is thus symbiotic with its spiritual purpose.

Back to politics.

  1. Amazing structure, very striking part of the city's skyline. I visited it two summers ago with my grandfather, who grew up in West St. Paul but moved to Los Angeles after World War II, and it was his first visit to the building. Scared him as a kid, he said, being raised Lutheran and hearing all those nasty stories about Catholics.

He was sorry that was his first time inside.
