There’s a long-running debate in handicapping circles about how meaningful previous games between two teams matter when prognosticating an upcoming matchup.

It will come to a head once again this afternoon when the Steelers host the Patriots as 3-point underdogs in a game that will give one side the inside track to securing home-field advantage throughout the AFC Playoffs.

Despite both teams having hovered near the top of the league over the last decade, New England has dominated Pittsburgh including five straight victories. Does that portend things to come tonight at Heinz Field or will the Steelers snap the streak in an all-important game?

It’s the game of the week in the Sun’s handicapping contest, meaning each of the three sports writers must one of six weekly selections off of the South Point betting board on New England at Pittsburgh.
