Vegas Play of the Day: Robert Morris vs. Duke

Mike Krzyzewski

Kathy Willens / AP

Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski celebrates with his players after his 1,000th career win in an NCAA basketball game against St. John’s at Madison Square Garden on Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015, in New York. Krzyzewski became the first men’s coach in Division I history with 1,000 wins.

Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point. Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.

Duke vs. Robert Morris, Total Under 144: $550 to win $500 Robert Morris rallied Wednesday from a 13-point second half against North Florida in the NCAA Tournament first round to earn a spot against No. 1 seed Duke. Look for Robert Morris to come out with energy early but fade once the game gets out of hand.

Robert Morris won its league and a tournament game to signal a successful season, meaning it will be quick to throw in the towel and go through the motions in the second half.

Duke is one of the best teams at playing with patience in the final 10 minutes of the game with a lead, running the shot clock down to single digits before attempting a shot. I also don’t expect Duke to run up the score.

And Duke likely won’t play Grayson Allen (illness) and star Jahlil Okafor (ankle) extended minutes with a comfortable lead, opting to save them for the remainder of the tournament.

Standings: Keefer (70-69-2, $10,607), Bern (69-64-1, $9,706), Brewer (61-74-3, $2,915)
