Vegas Play of the Day: Wofford vs. Arkansas

Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point. Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.

Wofford plus-7.5 vs. Arkansas: $4400 to win $400

One of the only upsets I’ve picked in every one of my brackets is No. 12 seed Wofford over No. 5 seed Arkansas in the West Region. The majority of it comes from the hope that Wofford can slow the game down to its preferred pace, and that if it does the Terriers can make enough shots to pull it off.

However, just slowing the game down should be enough for the cover. Arkansas plays at the 10th-fastest pace in the country, according to kenpom.com’s adjusted tempo, while the Terriers are in the bottom 40.

The Razorbacks are 4-3 this season in games with 66 possessions or fewer, and two of those victories were by one point. Wofford played 27 of its 34 games this year with 66 or fewer possessions, so as long as the Terriers can keep Arkansas from running out too much I think Wofford can keep it close and hopefully get the straight-up win.
