Vegas Play of the Day: Iona at Manhattan

Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point. Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.

Iona minus-2 at Manhattan: $550 to win $500 Iona is the class of the Metro Atlantic Athletic, winning 11 of its last 12 games and entering tonight’s game at Manhattan with a 19-6 record. Iona is the hands-down favorite to represent the league in the NCAA Tournament — where it could pull off an upset, or two, against a power conference.

Iona ranks fourth nationally in scoring at 82.5 points per game. It is eighth nationally in assists at 17.2 per game. Iona’s David Laury will be tough to contain for Manhattan on the inside. The 6-foot-9 Laury averages 21 points and 9.4 rebounds per game and has connected on 45 percent of his 3-pointers.

Manhattan, the defending Metro Atlantic Athletic champions, are just 12-11 this season and have five league defeats. This is Iona’s game, and league, to win.
