Vegas Play of the Day: Detroit at Charlotte

Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point. Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.

Detroit Pistons at Charlotte Hornets, Total Over 192: $550 to win $500 With D.J. Augustin as the Detroit Pistons’ starting point guard, four of their last five games have gone over the total. Augustin, who replaced the injured Brandon Jennings, has averaged 17.7 points and seven assists per game over the past 10 games. He’s turned Detroit into a more efficient offensive team.

At the same time, Detroit has ranked 28th in the NBA over the past 10 games in total defense, allowing 118 points to Orlando, 114 to Indiana and 112 to Minnesota. The trend will continue tonight — I expect the game to fly over the points total.
