Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point. Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.

New York Knicks plus-4 vs. Chicago Bulls: $550 to win $500 : The initial weeks of the NBA season are typically a challenge when handicapping because there isn’t enough data to support plays. That’s just fine with me. I’d rather make selections based on emotion.

And tonight in New York, the Knicks will be ready to play.

Yes, Chicago is the better team, and it has a significant advantage in the post with the addition of free agent Pau Gasol to go along with Joakim Noah and Taj Gibson.

But that doesn’t matter tonight. Fans at Madison Square Garden will be the difference, packing the NBA’s most-storied arena to give the Knicks an edge. Carmelo Anthony will be eager to show them he’s one of the game’s elite and worthy of the lucrative contract he signed in the offseason. He’ll try to score 50 points or will do enough to cover the number in Las Vegas.

Standings: Bern (50-46-1, $10,721), Keefer (45-53, $7,641), Brewer (44-51-3, $4,305)
