Vegas Play of the Day: Giants at Pirates

Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point. Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.

Pittsburgh Pirates (+100) vs. San Francisco Giants: $300 to win $300: Fans in Pittsburgh will be the difference makers in what appears to be an evenly matched wild card game. At a rally Tuesday, fans packed downtown to wildly show their support, and PNC Park will be sold out for tonight’s elimination game.

The Giants have the better team and better pitcher in Madison Bumgarner, who has a 6-0 postseason record that includes two victories in the World Series. But the crazy atmosphere at PNC will be too much for the Giants to overcome.

During last year’s wild card game, fans chanted Reds’ pitcher Johnny Cueto’s name repeatedly so loud that he dropped the ball before a pitch because he was distracted. When he did deliver the pitch, Russell Martin smacked a home run.

Can’t wait to hear those fans chanting Madison Bumgarner’s name. The home field advantage will help Pittsburgh survive and advance.

Standings: Bern (47-39-1, $12,481), Keefer (44-45, $11,121), Brewer (39-47-3, $4,745)
