Vegas Play of the Day: Western Michigan vs. San Jose State

Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point. Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.

Western Michigan minus-7.5 vs. San Jose State: $440 to win $400

I’m blaming the tryptophan for my late posting of today’s Vegas Play of the Day, which forced me to look elsewhere than my favorite pick since Oklahoma plus-8 vs. No. 2 Wisconsin has already tipped off.

Instead, I’m going with the first in a theme I expect to emerge during this college basketball season: betting against San Jose State. The Spartans are awful and I intend to play against them anytime there appears to be some value.

This is the second straight game for San Jose State, which lost by 22 to Washington yesterday. The competition is certainly more manageable today but I don’t think the Spartans will get right until they play St. Katherine.
