Vegas Play of the Day: San Diego State vs. Pittsburgh

Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point. Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.

San Diego State minus-2.5 against Pittsburgh: $660 to win $600

Last night’s San Diego State-BYU game at the Maui Invitational was about as good as early season college basketball gets. The Aztecs led nearly the entire way and should have won (and not covered) in regulation, then should have lost (and not covered) in the first overtime before eventually pulling away for a five-point victory to move to 4-0.

As good as that one was, the game I really want to see is SDSU-Arizona in the finals on Wednesday. To get there, the Aztecs have to shake off the fatigue of a long, physical game and bounce back right away.

Having enough legs is really the only thing I’m concerned with. The Aztecs’ defense is going to suffocate the Panthers. The only doubt is their ability to get the offense going enough, like they did yesterday, to pull away. I think they can make it happen in an ugly game.

Standings: Bern (54-48-1, $11,286), Keefer (49-58-1, $6,801), Brewer (46-55-3, $3,105)
