Vegas Play of the Day: Chicago Bulls at Utah Jazz

Two NFL games on Monday Night is a rare treat.

I’ll leave the analysis on the pair of games to my already-published NFL columns, though, and focus on the NBA in the South Point-lined Play of the Day, which began with $10,000 starting bankrolls.

Utah Jazz plus-3 vs. Chicago Bulls: $330 to win $300

How much better are the Bulls without Derrick Rose, Pau Gasol, Kirk Hinrich and Taj Gibson than the Jazz? Not much. At minimum, not enough to give three points on the road in a notoriously tough arena to play in.

Not all four of Chicago’s key players are ruled out for tonight’s game, but odds are at least three of them won’t play. The Jazz are fully healthy, and they’ve been scrappy all season.

Gordon Hayward and Derrick Favors have played like one of the league’s best duos, averaging a combined 35 points and 14 rebounds per game. The Jazz will put up points, but they have shortcomings on the other side as they rank in the NBA’s bottom five in defensive efficiency.

With all the injuries, however, Chicago may not have the cavalry to attack that weakness. The Jazz should keep the game close throughout, if not lead, and have a chance to win in the final minutes.

Standings: Bern (54-48-1, $11,286), Keefer (48-58-1, $6,501), Brewer (46-55-3, $3,105)
