Vegas Play of the Day: Utah State at Wyoming

Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point. Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.

Wyoming plus-7 1/2 vs. Utah State: $330 to win $300

This is one of the most difficult Mountain West games to pick all season, as far as I’m concerned.

On one side, you’ve got an Aggies team starting its freshman fourth-string quarterback on the road on especially short rest because of the Aggies’ annoying travel problems coming back from Hawaii. On the other side, you have a not-very-good and beat-up Wyoming team coming off a resounding upset against Fresno State that might have taken some value out of the plus-side of this line.

The Aggies’ defense is the best of the four units that will be on the field, and Utah State freshman quarterback Kent Myers was 14 of 15 last week, even if it was against Hawaii. But I see this one as an ugly affair and in those circumstances, I'll take the home team getting a shade more than a touchdown.
