Vegas Play of the Day: Miami Heat and Indiana Pacers

Pacers beat Miami in Game 1

Indiana Pacers center Roy Hibbert (55) drives against Miami Heat center Chris Bosh during the first half of Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals NBA basketball playoff series, Sunday, May 18, 2014, in Indianapolis.

The swings just keep coming.

The Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point and features starting bankrolls of $10,000 apiece for the three competitors, has lost four in a row. Let’s start a streak the opposite direction tonight.

Miami Heat vs. Indiana Pacers under 183.5: $330 to win $300

I’ve looked for spots to bet the under in Pacers’ games all playoffs long after the wagers proved profitable in the regular season. Consider it the curse of a completely inept offense.

Defense is the reason Indiana advanced this far, and it should bear down on that end in this potential elimination game. The Heat’s offense baffled the Pacers in each of the two contests in Miami, but Indiana coach Frank Vogel should have a couple wrinkles to throw in Game 5.

Will that be enough for the Pacers to extend the series? Hard to say. At Bankers Life Fieldhouse, this should be a close game.

The one near-certainty is Indiana won’t score much. The 107 points the Pacers exploded for in Game 1 was a record high against the Heat in the Big Three era.

It nudged the game over before both meetings in Miami followed course. Some correction is in store because when these two teams get together, it’s usually about defense.

Standings: Bern (27-19-1, $11,450), Keefer (22-26, $8,288), Brewer (18-26-3, $4,890)
