Vegas Play of the Day: Los Angeles Clippers at Oklahoma City Thunder

Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point. Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.

Los Angeles Clippers plus-5.5 at Oklahoma City Thunder: $440 to win $400

This series has given the NBA its signature game of the conference semifinals, with the Clippers storming back to win by two after trailing the entire game. Los Angeles was down 17 at the end of the first quarter and trailed by 12 to start the fourth quarter.

Of course, we’ve seen enough previous evidence to know that no lead is safe in the NBA. Still, this was a huge comeback because of the swing it makes in the series. This could have been a chance to clinch the series at home for Oklahoma City. Instead the series is tied up at 2-2 and Los Angeles comes in with momentum.

Much like when I took the Thunder with the points in Game 3, I like this side more for the perceived value than a particularly strong belief in the Clippers right now. There’s a good chance that whatever team leads at the start of the fourth quarter won’t by the end, so I’ll go with the underdog and hope for another close game.
