Vegas Play of the Day: Nationals at Marlins

Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point. Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.

Miami Marlins (+125) vs. Washington Nationals: $400 to win $500 : Miami enters on a seven-game losing skid, but six of those defeats came on a recently-concluded road trip. The Marlins, whose roster is dominated by younger players, struggle on the road.

But those younger players seem to be improving with each game and the Marlins are a better than average when playing at home.

The Marlins lost three games last week against the Nationals, but shouldn’t have been swept in the series. The roughed up Jordan Zimmermann, tonight’s Washington starter, for five earned run and seven hits on April 9. There’s no reason to doubt the Marlins won’t feast on Zimmerman’s pitching again.

And, the Marlins surely won’t lose every game. Tonight’s the night to break the streak.
