Randy Ruiz hit a pair of home runs and Brian Burres pitched a complete game shutout Wednesday afternoon to lift the Las Vegas 51s to a 5-0 victory at the Reno Aces in the final game of the inaugural series between Nevada’s Triple-A affiliates.

Dubbed the Silver State Diamond Challenge, the winning team of the 16-game season series receives the Silver Plate Trophy. Reno took two of three games this week.

Ruiz hit a three-run home run in the first inning and followed with a solo shot in the third to help the 51s take the final game.

The 51s added a run in the seventh inning when Brett Harper plated Buck Coats with a run-scoring single.

Burres (4-5) scattered four hits over nine innings with five strikeouts.

Las Vegas returns home Thursday for a four-game series with the Portland Beavers.
