Dylan concert cancelled at Cashman

Jam Productions announced this afternoon that an Aug. 12 concert at Cashman Field, featuring Bob Dylan, has been cancelled.

John Mellencamp and Willie Nelson also had been scheduled to appear.

Refunds will be available at the point of purchase, the Las Vegas 51s announced.

Jam official Don Sullivan apologized about the cancellation and inconvenience to fans. He said this is Dylan’s third tour of minor-league ballparks.

“And for some reason, it was not well-received in the (Las Vegas) market place,” Sullivan wrote in an e-mail. “Maybe the ticket price, maybe the summer heat, maybe the wrong venue (or) economy …

“But for some reason, ticket sales ere nowhere near what they should have been, based on hat our business is and has been. We thought it was in the best interest to cancel.”

  1. or maybe it's because nobody under the age of 55 can name a bob dylan song.

  2. I would say venue, heat and price WERE THE EXACT REASONS NOBODY BOUGHT TICKETS.

  3. the answer is blowing in the wind, what a has been he should be put out to pasture with a bunch of old goats

  4. As an 18 year-old who, not only purchased tickets to this event, but can also name about 70 Dylan songs, (which seems inconsequential considering that he's written hundreds) I will say that I'm saddened to hear this. I purchased tickets the first day they went on sale.
His tour company hasn't cancelled his show at Lake Tahoe, so I might make the effort to drive up there. Anything to see the world's greatest musician live.
I would like to point out, though, that tickets were only $67.50 but advertising was severely lacking. I thought the price was a steal compared to other concerts, but the only way I found out about the show was through obsessively checking the man's website.

  5. Geez, I'm older than whale s*it, but Willie is even older that that. Mellancamp is nothing, but Dylan will be missed. But how do you have a concert in a cheap outdoor sweat box stadium on August 12 in Las Vegas? Really a shame. This is a lesson, too. "The times, they are a' changin'".

  6. Certainly would have purchased a couple tickets if had known Dylan was playing at Cashman.
Without question, Dylan is the most artistic poet song lyricist of our time.
Recommended Dylan movie: "Pat Garret and Billy the Kid".
    Recommended album: "Desire"
Just let us know if/when Dylan returns to Vegas, we'll be there!

  7. Hmmm...I bought 4 tickets for this concert. One for my 52 year old husband; one for my 23 year old daughter, one for my 22 year old daughter; and one for my youngest daughter's boyfriend, who is 23 years old. I don't think age is a factor when one wants to see Dylan. You either are, or aren't a Dylan fan. All of the above mentioned people, when told the concert was cancelled, instantly wanted to know, "is it being rescheduled"? No information was given in the cancellation email. I'm thinking that these guys 'peeps' looked at the average temp's in Vegas on August 12th AFTER the concert was sold. THAT is why the concert was cancelled! I would have respected the answer that "it is too fricken hot", I can seriously understand that oversight, but expect someone to cough up the dough it cost me and potentially hundreds of customers because of that oversight. I thought my family were all crazy for being willing to go to such an event outside, in Vegas, on that date. But they were excited! The show has already been booked the same event at another (cooler) venue on the same date, so I have lost respect for all of the people responsible for 'treating me dumb', by saying that 'there was no interest' in the event. That is a politically correst (cost savings lie) This was a scheduling snafu, pure and simple. I am angry at the audacity of ticketmaster for saying, "we will refund all but the processing fee, the fee charged for UPS delivery of your tickets, overnight delivery fee's, etc. How dare you? Let Willie, Dylan, and John pay for their FUBAR! Their people should have done a better job of scheduling the when, where's and 'how hot it is there on that date'? Why should the gullible public pay for it??? We bought those tickets in good faith! In my case, I get refunded everything BUT the $3.60 a ticket processing fee. Which translates into a loss of $14.40 for NOTHING! Well, TicketMaster made out, Willie, Dylan and John aren't out anything...but me? I got to tell both of my daughters, a boyfriend, and my husband that something they took off work for, and they were looking forward to, "is cancelled"! And I get to PAY FOR IT!?! You know what you can all do with the horse you rode in on!
